Community Outreach Programs

At Aikido of Albuquerque, we would like to reach out to the community by offering several programs that would educate the public about the traditional practices of Aikido and Zen.  Our current outreach programs include:

  1. BulletSchool Programs

Aikido of Albuquerque offers several Public, Private and Charter schools within the Albuquerque Metro area the opportunity to have their students come to our school and practice Aikido and Zazen for FREE.  Each program is 1 - month in length.  Children 5 - 12 years of age can come to our school and train with one parent or legal guardian for FREE for an entire month.  We offer classes 6 days per week.  Children and their parent/guardian can train as much as they would like for the duration of the program.  Please view the children’s class schedule, for times.  We also offer this program to teenagers, 13 - 17 years of age. We offer this program to three different schools each time.  If you are interested in this program coming to your school, please contact the dojo.

  1. BulletAikido Classes

Aikido of Albuquerque provides a monthly Aikido class at the dojo that is free and open to the community.  This class is held every second Wednesday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  This class is available for everyone 13 years old and older.  Those interested in participating should wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing ( sweats and a t-shirt) and should arrive 15 minutes before the start of class.  While in the dojo, please have cell phones turned off.

  1. BulletScholarships

Aikido of Albuquerque provides scholarships to children between the ages of 5 to 12 and 13 to 17.  The scholarships for the 5 to 12 year olds would allow the child to come to classes 5 times a week.  The scholarships for the 13 to 17 year olds allow the individual to attend an unlimited amount of classes.  Children at our school learn about mutual cooperation, tolerance, and discipline while they grow in self-confidence and physical coordination.  Children will improve their awareness and concentration and practice the values of self-respect and respect for others.  Proper etiquette is always emphasized.

  1. BulletZazen

Zazen (seated meditation) is open to the community.  Individuals interested in Zen practice, please call the dojo or come by for more information.

Aikido of Albuquerque is currently seeking partnerships with schools and/or community organizations to bring the Japanese arts of Aikido and Zen to our children.

If you are interested in sponsoring a child or obtaining further information about our programs, please contact the dojo or come by and visit us.
